This was from the last year that Whiteout Films was around and the first year D.C. started getting a little heavier in the snowboard scene. We were climbing up the glacier in Brandywine in some flat light and Iikka launched into this crevasse. Probably one of the scarier situations I have witnessed when someone is doing around eighty km in front of you and then just disappears into the earth. As always Iikka was a champ, a little shaken up but he rode the sled out with no steering column that day. It looks like great minds think a like because Push.ca is running a new series dusting off the old files right now, the first one was on Jussi and they just put one up with some of my old stuff. Don’t worry it didn’t thin out the Light of Day files that much.
Month: October 2012
Chris Rasman – Light of Day
Chris is a machine, always willing to hike another time and to stay until the last light of the day. As well he is also one of the nicest guy’s in snowboarding. Snowboard Canada just released their first movie RELAX, it looks like it is jammed packed with talented Canadian riders like Chris. So do yourself a favor go and download it for free.
Eero Niemela – Light of Day
With the rain starting up over the last couple of days, I have been digging through the crates and dusting of the hard drives. I have been inspired by Russell & Dano to show some of my older photos that have never seen the light of day. The first one is a terrible scan of Eero Niemela from back in the film days, shot on ILFORD DELTA stock in the Pemberton British Columbia. This will be a ongoing topic on o.k. listen so expect to be seeing more.
Intervals with Robin Van Gyn

This past winter Robin was working on a web series with a couple ladies and they recently put all the footage together and released a nice little piece. I haven’t spent much time shooting with these ladies but I did have a great trip with Robin and a few girls this past winter. Watch for the feature on that coming out soon from Snowboard Canada. For now grab a coffee and start getting stoked for winter.
Tales from the Backcountry and 21 Steps

I was making the rounds over the last couple of weeks hanging some new prints around town. If you are in the neighborhood make sure to stop in to 21 Steps for a beer and some delicious food and check out my new work hanging on the walls. The Whistler Arts Council is running the photo exhibit Out Of Bounds again this year with a great list of talented photographers involved I really am excited to see everyone’s work. The launch party is on October 11th at 7pm at Millennium Place stop in and check out all the pieces. One of the four I entered isĀ above of Trevan Salmon.

Mountain Sledder Magazine Volume 1

There is a new mag out floating around the stands as well as the internet. The crew at Mountain Sledder came out strong with a couple great features from the snowmobile community and I was fortunate enough to get some images in their premier issue. If you can’t find it on the stands click through and check it out on line.
