This past winter Robin was working on a web series with a couple ladies and they recently put all the footage together and released a nice little piece. I haven’t spent much time shooting with these ladies but I did have a great trip with Robin and a few girls this past winter. Watch for the feature on that coming out soon from Snowboard Canada. For now grab a coffee and start getting stoked for winter.
I was making the rounds over the last couple of weeks hanging some new prints around town. If you are in the neighborhood make sure to stop in to 21 Steps for a beer and some delicious food and check out my new work hanging on the walls. The Whistler Arts Council is running the photo exhibit Out Of Bounds again this year with a great list of talented photographers involved I really am excited to see everyone’s work. The launch party is on October 11th at 7pm at Millennium Place stop in and check out all the pieces. One of the four I entered is above of Trevan Salmon.
There is a new mag out floating around the stands as well as the internet. The crew at Mountain Sledder came out strong with a couple great features from the snowmobile community and I was fortunate enough to get some images in their premier issue. If you can’t find it on the stands click through and check it out on line.
The latest Mountain Life just dropped, and as always the crew put out a great mag. I am always interested to see what other people are up to in our backyard and Jim Martinello didn’t disappoint this issue with a great little article on his trip with Dean Potter working on a show for The National Geographic Channel about the man who can fly. Those guys are next level and really that’s all there is to say about that, if you haven’t seen anything they have been up to make sure you click through and check it out.
I worked on an assignment for Mountain Life about Good Time Farming, a family run operation that is rocking the boat when it comes to farming. Basically they take over your backyard or any other space you are willing to give up and produce some great produce.Below are a couple pics that never made it in to the story as well as an old Instagram of what one of the boxes yield during the summer. Their stuff is delicious.
Took a little trip south of the border a couple weeks back to Port Townsend with my beautiful girlfriend and friendly dog. The plan to camp was quickly changed with the early arrival of a storm, and we ended up staying at a great little cottage right in town at The Swan Hotel, which I highly recommend. Nothing to exciting happened besides sampling the local cuisine and spirits, but it is a great place to check out when your ready to get out of town for a minute.
I shot all these images with my trusty Canon s100, which continues to impress me. For a small compact camera it really packs a punch, it has all the power of my old G9 with a fraction of the size, and the lens on it is so nice.
I am always excited to get a call form a repeat client so when Jordan from Crossfit Whistler let me know it was time to update his images and website again we started planning the shoot. It was not only great to work with a friend again but he was specific in what he wanted and then open to suggestions as the shoot progressed. The great thing about crossfit is it is not your ordinary gym where a bunch of people are running on treadmills listening to their own music. Everyone is cheering each other on and their is a definite sense of community in the gym, all while using simple weights and movements to exercise. This is what we decide to base the images and shoot around, the sense of community and the details of the equipment they use. Back in January when I competed in the Deep Winter Photo Challenge ARC’TERYX handed out jackets to all the photographers. It was a sweet consultation prize but until recently I didn’t realize just how sweet. Whistler has been getting hammered with the weather lately and every day I come home dry. Thanks ARC’TERYX you make great products.
I recently went to Vancouver Island on assignment for SBC Women’s Annual with a couple talented ladies. The idea was to go camping and split boarding for a few days. We arrived to a huge snow storm, access roads covered in landslides and a couple deep days. Check out the webisode below.
