Kyle Thomas Pursuit

Over the years I have spent some time with the Whistler Valley Snowboard Club shooting their athletes in the park on Whistler Blackcomb. The coaches do good work over there and it is always great to see where the riders end up down the road. One jumped through the rings at the last Olympics here in Vancouver, and countless others have gone on to have successful careers in the snow world. Kyle Thomas is trying to make it to the Olympics this year in Sochi. If you have a few bucks consider throwing some his way, he is a hell of a guy and pretty good in the old icy ditch.

Climbing Shoot

20130908_chief_climb_003-Edit

I always love the opportunity to shoot something new. I have wanted to shoot some climbing shots for a while now so when I got the call from a client to shoot a famous Squamish climb and create a custom print for a gift I jumped at the opportunity. Proper Design handled the printing and knocked it out of the park on the extra large canvas.

Dave Short Light Of Day

I first met Dave years ago working in a restaurant together in Whistler. You could tell right away he wasn’t cut out for the service industry, I mean he could do the job but he just wasn’t into it. After about a month of working there he just didn’t show up one day. Of course working in a mountain town your mind starts to think the worst but it turns out Dave just packed up his truck and sled and headed north with a crew because he heard the snow was good. I think he has been chasing the snow ever since then and hasn’t looked back. He just dropped his last edit of his web series Short Stories, and it is filled with some great riding.

Seth Sherlock Edit

Over the summer I was shooting a little mountain biking with Whistler Creek Productions and a young lad named Seth Sherlock. When the boys first told me about the project they neglected to mention Seth’s age, so when I showed up for the first day of shooting I was a little taken back by Seth’s size. I knew the jumps we were going to shoot as I have shot them before with other riders and then to see Seth step up to the triple line of jumps that scare even the most seasoned rider it definitely made a serious impression on me. Throughout the rest of the summer Seth continued to impress and step to more and more dangerous features after weighing all factors like a seasoned pro. To say you will be seeing more of this young guy is a understatement. I was just thinking back to my summer as a ten year old and it had nothing to do with river gaps, steep rock rides, or big drops. I wonder if when he goes to school and talks about his summer vacation if he will show this video. Probably not because it is just a everyday occurrence for this Squamish youngster.
