SBC just dropped their first issue which is the buyers guide for this season. Along with all the great new gear there is a interview with Martin Gallant that is worth a read, and if you haven’t checked out the Crew Challenge yet make sure you peep the videos.

SBC Crew Challenge
Last season SBC put together a contest with with the help of D.C. and Powder Mountain Catskiing where four of Canada’s top filming compaines had a few days to put together a edit. They built a bunch of features in powder mountains tenure and let the crews loose. I got teamed up with the Brothers Factory at the last minute and came out with a few keepers after it was all over. The weather was less then ideal for the most part but on the final day the clouds parted and all the features saw some action. Click on over to SBC and vote for your favorite crew.
Aaron “Trout” Maksymec

Push.ca is putting together some pieces on the people and characters that are behind the scenes in snowboarding the content on that site is just getting better every month. It takes a special kind of person to roll with one of the loosest crews in snowboarding. Trout gets it done on a daily basis, check him out on push.ca
Happy Canada Day!
Kale Stephens Living Legends
Martin Gallant Living Legends
Push.ca just dropped the next video in their Living Legends series. This time around it is on Martin Gallant. They really did a great job on his interview, like always Martin is truthful and entertaining in it and it shows some great footage from over the years. Don’t miss out on it it really is worth the watch. Above is a slideshow that I put together in 2009 for the Island Lake Lodge Photo Shoot Out, where along with Helen Schettini and Justin Van Der Poelen and Martin we won best overall portfolio.
Thanks for all the good times Martin!
Shin Campos Living Legends
Push has started a new series called living legends that they are producing right now. They dropped the first one with Dennis Bannock a little while back, and they just put out another one with Shin Campos recently. They are both packed with interesting interviews from a assortment of characters that have been around the Canadian snowboard scene for a while and are worth checking out. Nice work boys.
Last Decents Slideshow
The photo issue for Snowboard Canada just came out and is packed with some great photos and articles. Feet and I worked together on a story in the issue, and I just put together a little slide show of some of the images that didn’t get used. I just wanted to take a minute and thank all the people that made it happen. The SBC crew for taking a chance and trying something a little different as well as offsetting the carbon cost for all our gas guzzling snowmobiles and trucks. Jay Greenway for the music. Ryan Proctor for the lift tickets at Whistler Blackcomb, and last but certainly not least all of the riders for their efforts and skills. Without them none of it would be possible. If you have two minutes check it out and let me know what you think.
Gaetan Chanut
One of my favourite images of Gaetan was recently used in a new Sims ad. One of the things that makes this photo so special is Gaetan is riding an original Noah Salasnek model including the low backs from the early 90’s. Back at that time I was probably still rocking my Craig Kelly and the whole crew was jealous when our buddy Domi showed up with that deck. Twin tip, skate inspired graphics, it was one of the first boards to bridge the gap between skateboarding and snowboarding and was much different then anything we had seen at that time.
The day we shot this I remember Gaetan pulling out that deck and all my memories of riding golf courses and Mount Chili as a kid came flooding back. However, we were never pulling corked sevens like him! They also used one of my images in his profile on their website, check it out he is holding down seniority over there next to Tom.
Thanks Gaetan.
