Snowboard Canada Photo Annual Feature

_life_after-1

We all know a snowboarders career can be over before it even starts. My idea for this feature was to show what the riders might look like after years of chasing pow, girls, and the general lifestyle of a snowboarder. The talented Feet Banks penned the words, Amy Diedrich came out and did a stellar job on the makeup.

Thanks to the riders that made this happen and putting up with my crazy ideas,SBC for supporting the vision, the Squamish SPCA for the feline rental and if you are looking for a cat go see them they’ve got you covered.

Spring In The Mountains

20110421_galnt_chnt_segrm_290

The last couple days have been great. It is spring in the mountains which makes for long days and some great snow conditions. It looks like the weather is going to bring us another system with hopefully a full reset on the slopes. In the meantime I will have to spend some time on the river I guess, it is looking just as nice as the mountains these days. Gaetan Chanut

One of my favourite images of Gaetan was recently used in a new Sims ad. One of the things that makes this photo so special is Gaetan is riding an original Noah Salasnek model including the low backs from the early 90’s. Back at that time I was probably still rocking my Craig Kelly and the whole crew was jealous when our buddy Domi showed up with that deck. Twin tip, skate inspired graphics, it was one of the first boards to bridge the gap between skateboarding and snowboarding and was much different then anything we had seen at that time.

The day we shot this I remember Gaetan pulling out that deck and all my memories of riding golf courses and Mount Chili as a kid came flooding back. However, we were never pulling corked sevens like him! They also used one of my images in his profile on their website, check it out he is holding down seniority over there next to Tom.

Thanks Gaetan.
